What is the best diet to lose weight fast?

Generally speaking, you can lose a lot of weight fast by simply not eating very much food.

However, this is definitely NOT a good way to lose weight (and keep it off) for the long term.


Why most diets fail

Most diets fail, in the long term, because they aren’t sustainable. This could be for a number of reasons, including:

  • Overly restrictive and make you hate eating that way
  • Overly restrictive and you end up starving yourself/being miserable
  • Don’t take into account things like your available time, your palate preferences, and your financial situation

How to lose weight fast (and keep it off)

Contrary to what most gurus may tell you, when it comes to weight loss, it’s best to come out of the gate swinging and with momentum.

The actual specifics of how you do this will change, depending on whatever diet plan you are following.

But the point of this super aggressive approach early on is to put some fast points on the scoreboard, and start to build massive momentum.

Why?

Because hitting the ground running, and getting a few quick wins (ie…pounds lost) will skyrocket your confidence to the moon, and keep you fired up to stay the course.

However, this high octane, in-your-face, approach is only sustainable for a very short period of time. Like 1–2 weeks, max.

Then, it’s appropriate to throttle back, down shift gears, and settle into a more long term, sustainable weight loss strategy.


What are the “best” diet tactics for successful long term weight loss?

Regardless of whatever diet you are following, there are a few simple, and highly effective tactics which you can use for long term sustainable weight loss.

In no particular order the three best diet tactics that I recommend are:

#1. Intermittent Fasting
#2. Calorie/Carbohydrate Cycling
#3. Strategic meal replacement protein shakes

Basically, intermittent fasting is eating within certain windows of time each. For example: You’re going to eat all your food for the day between 10am and 6pm.

Calorie/carb cycling is when you eat less on some days, and more on other days. A common way to do this is eat more on the days you workout hard; and eat less on the days you have an easy workout, or don’t workout at all.

Strategic meal replacement shakes are simply replacing a meal of food, with a high quality protein shake. The use of meal replacement shakes perfectly complements intermittent fasting, and calorie cycling to bring you simple, yet highly effective set of tactics which you can use for long term weight loss.


The Five Day Diet

The three weight loss tactics above are the bedrocks of my client’s long term weight loss success.

They are easy to implement, aren’t overly restrictive, and still allow you to live your life without going insane about food; even while on a quest for weight loss.
